You must work either for a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) or a third sector organisation (charity etc) to be eligible for 70% funding.
A small to medium-sized enterprise, that for the eligibility purposes of this funding, is an organisation that:
- Has fewer than 250 employees
- Has a turnover of no more than 50 million Euros, (approx £34.35 million)
- Has a balance sheet of less than 43 million Euros, (approx £29.54 million)
- Is not owned by, or controlled by, an enterprise which does not meet the above three criteria
Third Sector Eligibility
- Where a charity receives zero or less than 50% of their core funding from public money, their employees are eligible for the subsidy
- If the charity receives over 50% public funding they would be classed as a public organisation and not eligible. However, there is an exception to this rule. It does depend on HOW they receive the money. If the charity has to tender/bid for the money and there is a possibility that they may not receive the funding then they are eligible. If they are automatically given the money year on year they are classed as a public organisation and they are not eligible.
If I am on my own, working for myself am I eligible? Even if this work is in my spare time?
Yes, but you need to be a registered business/sole trader. This requires you to be registered with HMRC Inland Revenue as self-employed with a business name and description.
Is it only people living in Wales who are eligible to receive funding?
It is for people that live in Wales and work in business in Wales. There is some allowance for people residing in England but who work in Wales or for a Welsh business.
Is this funding the same as the GoWales funding?
No, this is separate to the GoWales funding. These Leadership and Management workshops are part funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government.
How do I claim the funding for the course fee?
To confirm your eligibility you need to complete and submit the three European Social Fund registration forms:
- Participant enrolment form – this is about you personally
- Business Enrolment Form – this is about the business that you work for
- Business Owner Profile Form – this is information about the owner/s of the business that you work for. If it is your business then it is about you.
If you are eligible for funding you will be invoiced for the course at the reduced rate of £57 +VAT per day (reduced from £190 +VAT per day). We will claim the subsidy, to cover the difference, on your behalf.
I am doing more than one course. Do I need to complete the European Social Funding forms for each course?
Delegates that are attending more than one funded workshop need only complete the ESF forms ONCE.
What is the process for gaining accreditation?
- Complete the workshop ‘Consolidation of Theory and Practice’
- Submit a portfolio completed in your own time
- Pay the accreditation registration fee in full
- If you are eligible for funding, upon receipt of your accreditation you will be reimbursed with the 70% subsidy
If I am being funded, why do I have to pay the accreditation and certification cost in full up front?
It is only possible to claim funding for accreditation costs after the training has been completed and certification received.
How many times can I claim funding for accreditation?
If you are eligible for funding you can claim 70% of the accreditation fee, up to £100, and can claim accreditation costs up to a maximum of three times.
If I have paid the accreditation registration fee up front but do not complete the accreditation do I get a refund?
It is not possible to subsidise accreditation costs of those delegates who do not complete and gain accreditation. Therefore you will be liable for the full cost of the accreditation registration.
