Action Learning Facilitator Training (Stage 1)

A practical and experiential course which will equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge of action learning.

Course outline:

  • the origins of action learning
  • six action learning conventions
  • action learning techniques
  • what makes action learning different to other problem solving forums
  • what it’s like to be part of an action learning set
  • how to solve problems quickly and effectively
  • holding boundaries and maintaining the ground rules
  • the success of action learning in the workplace
  • how to start your own action learning group

Day 1   Action Learning in a Nutshell

  • Find out exactly what action learning is, learn about it’s unique characteristics, and the benefits it can bring to individuals and groups.
  • Whether you work for an organisation or are self employed, learn how action learning can enrich your portfolio.
  • Experience what it is to be part of an action learning group and learn the basic conventions and core ground rules

             
Day 2    Role of the Facilitator

  • Gain practical experience, and practice in an action learning group of no more than six people.
  • Understand the key skills and learn the essential techniques of an action learning facilitator.
  • Learn how to avoid the common mistakes and pitfalls when facilitating and become familiar with the multi tasking role of an action learning facilitator


Day 3    Action Learning in Practice

  • Know what it is to be part of an action learning group and facilitate an action learning session.
  • Feel confident and eager to transfer your skills as a facilitator


Day 4    Consolidation of Theory & Practice

Pre-requisites:

To acheive accreditation participants must complete the full 3 days training prior to attending the consolidation of theory and practice day 4.

Accreditation is available with the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) on completion of the full training course and payment of the accreditation registration fee.
