Life Coaching Training (Stage 1)

The course is designed to train participants in the techniques of life coaching. It will begin as an introduction to the art of clear, honest, direct and empathetic communication. You will learn techniques that help others sort out their own issues and make their own decisions. You will learn to help others evaluate their behaviour and improve the quality of their lives by utilising techniques that cut to the core of a problem.

This is a highly practical and interactive course. During the four days you will learn to coach by coaching other course participants. By the end of the programme you will demonstrate skills that leave others feeling focused, motivated and able to manage and change personal and environmental challenges.

If you are interested in becoming an accredited Life Coach, there is an optional fifth day of attendance for assessment purposes.

This course provides a good introduction to the field, without committing to a long course of study.

The overall aims of the programme are:

  • To deepen learners' understanding and knowledge of the context, principles and techniques of Life Coaching
  • To give learners the confidence and skills to apply basic principles of Life Coaching in different contexts. This will include an understanding of theory, approach and process in one-to-one coaching
  • To provide a theoretical introduction to Life Coaching as a field of study
  • To provide learners with the opportunity to develop and improve:

    • Skills in creating a coaching relationship with focused and relevant outcomes
    • An ability to use a range of techniques for effective coaching
    • Reflective practice

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the attributes of a successful coach
  • Describe the relationship between coach and client
  • Establish rapport with clients
  • Identify the different levels of listening
  • List coaching principles and beliefs
  • Practice the balance between empathy and challenge
  • Identify the importance of body language, tone, voice pitch and language when coaching
  • Work through a recognised coaching framework
  • Practice asking insightful questions
  • Help clients to set realistic and meaningful goals
  • Practice techniques to initiate a successful coaching relationship

4 days, 9.30am – 4.00pm.

It is highly recommended that the training is delivered weekly over 4 weeks. This will encourage cohesiveness between group members and commitment to the programme goals. In our experience participants gain more from their learning and are more motivated to apply the theory and start practising life coaching techniques when there are not long gaps in between delivery.
